Bihar put on alert before Maoist 'Shaheed Diwas'

Patna (PTI): Bihar has been put on alert on Wednesday ahead of the "Shaheed Diwas (sacrifice day)" to be oberseved by the banned CPI (Maoist) on Thursday, IG (Operation) S K Bhardwaj said.
All police stations in the Naxal-hit districts of Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Jehanabad, Jamui and Rohtas have been put on maximum alert, he said.
Superintendents of Police in the districts have been asked to intensify patrol on road and railway tracks.
Extra security was deployed to secure the property of railways, considered a soft target for the Naxalites, official sources said.
The police officers were also tipped about possible Maoist oeprations on the basis of intelligence inputs, they said.
The intelligence agencies have reportedly alerted the security establishments about possible attacks on government buildings and other vital installations in the Maoist-affected districts.
